Miranda and Halvard 6th in an extraordinary edition of the Normandy Channel Race

A fine race for Campagne de France which completed the course in 6 days 4 hours, 49 minutes and 52seconds at an average speed of 6.45 knots. There were a total of 27 Class40s at the start of the race.
Halvard Mabire: « It was a great race. We had an interesting passage through the Solent – there was so little wind that we could do nothing more than drift with the tide. Not once did the sails fill between Cowes and the Needles. We stuck with the lead group until Land’s End where we parked up, and were the only ones not to get going again. That’s when we lost our lead group of playmates. After that, we managed to gain some ground back, but the breeze always filled in from ahead, so we only managed to catch one of the boats ahead. I’m pleased with our 6th place. Shame there were so many retirements. It is a fabulous course and event. »
